Time Commitment

To prepare one presentation of 20 to 45 minutes, clients typically need 4 to 7 coaching sessions of 2 to 3.5 hours each, depending on the nature of the presentation and the presenter’s comfort level. This usually takes place over a period of 4 to 8 weeks before the presentation.

Could you benefit from presentation coaching?

This coaching is not for everyone. But great presentations don’t just happen, and thoughtful, tailored preparation is critical. If any of the following situations apply to you, you’ll benefit from these practical but sophisticated coaching sessions:
  • Delivering presentations and speeches is a key component of your career. You may have years of experience but are still unsure of what you do well (and why people like it) and what blind spots prevent you from communicating like the speakers / leaders you admire. You want to take your communication to the next level.

  • You have to prepare one high-stakes presentation, such as an investor pitch or a major project to a board. You have no second chance to get it right.

  • You have to prepare a high-visibility presentation, delivered several times to hundreds of people or recorded on video for marketing purposes, such as roadshows or TED talks. The challenge is to make it great and deliver the same impact every time and across diverse audiences—perhaps a mix of novices and experts, various cultures, differing interests, etc.

  • You want to create momentum and buy-in, typically to align and connect the workforce or partners, especially for change management programmes. This might involve presenting with a different tone or style for a more authentic, inspirational leadership speech during announcements, celebrations, annual townhalls, and the like.

  • You have to speak and adhere to a format that is new to you, for example online conference, short speech (3 to 15 minutes), TED-style talk, Petcha-Kutcha presentation, presenting without slides or without text on your slides, interview-style presentation, duo presentation, green screen studio, using a prompter, and others.

  • You have to meet high and complex expectations, such as promoting a product or service without ‘talking product’ or ‘sounding salesy,’ educating your audience on economic / legal / financial matters, promoting dry business content in an inspiring and exciting way, and motivating retail partners and clients during times when there is nothing new to relay about the product or service.

  • It is the first time in your life that you will prepare and deliver a presentation with high visibility, or high risks, or in front of a large audience.
